Raiden Arcade - Dead 1990 Arcade Board Repair
Seibu Raiden(1990)
This Raiden board is said used to work, but now outputs nothing.
Diagnosis
The board looks clean. With a few obvious issues with naked eyes. Falling jumper wires from the daughterboard, and a seemingly factory botched capacitor is touching the wrong leg. Quite a few trace damages here and there.
The repair
Resolder the capacitor, separate them with Kepton tapes.
Fixed the broken and exposed traces(a whole lot of them). Removed no longer necessary jumper wires. First boot with no sound but proper graphics and input.
Turns out it needs -5V to be supplied to JAMMA to produce proper sound. After doing so, it’s fully working.
